Óskar Hafnfjörð Auðunsson
CEO
Oskar has a BSc degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Iceland. He has been with Trefjar since January of 2016. Before joining Trefjar he had a decade long career in banking serving among other roles as the Deputy managing director for Arion bank until end of 2015. Oskar has been a board member of both Vordur and Lifis, two of the largest non-life and life insurance companies in Iceland and serving as a member of their Audit committees. Oskar has a strong background in managing teams and projects with a result-oriented focus.
Högni Bergþórsson
Director of sales & development
Hogni has a degree in Engineering and has worked in Trefjar since 1996. His focus has been the development and sales of professional workboats with the emphasis on fishing boats. He has extensive knowledge of composite materials and boat design. His vast experience has seen him working on projects in as diverse as in South America, Africa, Middle east and extensively in Northern Europe on over 450 newbuilt boats.
Hogni has two employees working under his guidance: one Naval architect and one Mechanical engineer.
Úlfar Þór Viðarsson
COO
Ulfar has a degree in Economics from the University of Iceland and has worked at Trefjar for over 20 years or since 2003. He has been in many roles over the years at the company; overseeing electrical installation, as project manager for large customers, managing after-sales and service and currently serving as the COO. In his role he is responsible for the manufacturing process ensuring that delivery is on time, on budget and according to the customers specifications.
Family business since 1978
Get to know us
Founded in 1978, Trefjar has remained a family-owned business since its inception. In the early years, we focused on producing fish farming tubs, which quickly became our core business. During the 1980s and 1990s, as the local fish farming industry grew, we built thousands of tanks, becoming a trusted partner for many local fish farming companies.
However, as the demand for fish farming tanks declined, we adapted by venturing into boat building. Initially, we developed our small Skel range, followed by the iconic Cleopatra boats. Since 1990, boat building has been our primary focus, and we’ve crafted approximately 500 custom-built boats in various sizes, tailored to meet the unique needs of our customers.
A few years ago, Trefjar expanded its operations by acquiring Stálorka, a steel manufacturing company specializing in stainless steel, steel, and aluminum production. This acquisition has further strengthened our capabilities, allowing us to provide a broader range of products and services to our clients.
Now that things are scaling up in fish farming, we have utilized our experience and are placing greater focus on aquaculture production.
